e are Green and Eco-Friendly!
ALL our wood is salvaged from a variety of Green and Eco-Friendly sources, including protective harvesting to building site reclamation to right-of-way clearing and more.

And now we have yet another Green and Eco-Friendly source to share with you as we now offer a completely different and relatively new mesquite product line that has generated considerable interest for environmentally conscientious wood workers.

We are involved in a local land restoration project with the Bureau of Land Management within the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area located just SE of Tucson, Arizona.

Our (TMS) activities involve harvestation and removal of above ground mesquite bio-mass product.

The second stage involves grubbing (mechanical removal of mesquite roots) by third party contractors.

Lastly, TMS reenters the area and removes many of the exposed mesquite root systems. From many of these roots we've "unearthed" a new line of mesquite product - Root Burls.

Here are a few of the program's features:

  • Bio-mass product is responsibly acquired in conjunction with a federally funded land restoration project designed in large part to restore natural grasslands while reintroducing pronghorn antelope back into area and reestablishing diminishing watershed levels.

  • Land restoration funding made available, in part, through a commitment that involves removal quotas of bio-mass and productive/effective utilization of such bio-mass.

  • Bio-mass product targeted is indigenous Sonoran Desert Velvet Mesquite.

  • In general, burls have been recently grubbed and maintain relatively high moisture content.

  • In preparation for market, burls have been power washed, trimmed, cropped (top & bottom) on Woodmizer sawmill, and preserved with Anchorseal.

  • Sizes range from 8" to 36" diameter and weigh 20 lbs. to 1000 lbs (approx.).

  • Total bio-mass removal to date - 500,000 lbs (millwood and burl).

  • Target markets: Woodturners, fine woodworkers, veneers, sculptures.
